| Be
a Search and Rescue Volunteer!
You don't have to drive a Jeep to
join the Jeep Patrol!
While
the original members back in 1973 all drove Jeeps, the group has
expanded to include vehicles of various makes and models all with
one thing in common: 4-wheel drive!

We are actively recruiting new members. You must be 21 years of
age, a resident of Thurston County or live in Lewis, Mason or
Pierce County and be within 30 driving minutes of the Thurston
County Court House, and own a street legal 4x4, any make or model
equipped with a CB radio.

1.
Use the buddy system. Never venture into the woods alone.
2.
Tell someone where you're going and when you plan to return home.
3.
Check the weather report for the area you'll be visiting, right
up until the minute you walk out the door: www.weather.com
4. Wear layers of clothing and bring extra
items just in case...even in warm weather. If you end up lost,
you'll want to be able to survive a cold night.
5.
Keep a survival kit
on you at all times. A simple set of vital items in a container
as small as an Altoids tin may save your life! Survival
Kits on Sale
6.
If you do become lost - Don't panic! Stop and think about your
situation calmly and rationally.
7.
Stay put! It will be much easier for rescuers to find you. Continuing
to wander will only get you more lost!
